Attach the words “Oscar Nominated” to a movie and it prompts buzz. Not all films deliver on their Oscar worthy promise. Here are ten reasons why “American Hustle” is the movie to see this Oscar season.

1. Bradley Cooper’s perm

Bradley Cooper was voted People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” in 2011, but in “American Hustle” he gives a new look, a perm.Cooper dares to bare with plunging necklines, chest hair and gold chains.

2. J. Law

Jennifer Lawrence once again delivers a stellar performance as Rosalyn Rosenfeld, the wife of scheming Irving Rosenfeld.

She is a little bit crazy, a little bit sexy and extremely manipulative. Attaching J.Law’s name to a movie instantly generates audience interest and in “American Hustle” she does not disappoint.

3. Amy Adams

Amy Adams plays Sydney Prosser who later transforms herself into Lady Edith Greensly, a Londoner with a terribly fantastic faux British accent.

Adams gives an Oscar worthy performance as the quirky and scheming accomplish to Irving’s loan operation.

4. The kiss

Lawrence and Adams both give stellar performances on their own and their chemistry together is even better.

Their kiss showcases just how crazy and manipulative their characters are.

5. David O. Russell produces magic

David O. Russell captured our hearts last year with “Silver Linings Playbook” and this year he is back with another outstanding contribution to film.

Russell delivers a brilliant movie of con artists and crime set in the late 1970s.

6. Christian Bale’s comb over

Christian Bale does not disappoint in his role as Irving Rosenfeld. Bale is known for fully committing to his roles and this is no different.

He packed on the pounds and plastered on a toupee to play the pinky ring wearing con artist from the Bronx.

7. The Soundtrack

The soundtrack features artists such as Tom Jones, Donna Summer, and the Bee Gees.

The songs themselves are perfect choices to accompany the film but the placement really makes them stand out.

Case in point, the use of Steely Dan’s “Dirty Work” as Irving, Sydney and Richie walk with a briefcase full of cash.

8. It’s based on a true story

The film opens with a disclaimer “Some of this actually happened.”

The film is inspired by the real Abscam operation that occurred in the late ‘70s. The film accomplishes the illustration of the scheme while giving its own flare.

9. The costumes

“American Hustle” is full of plunging necklines, fur, gowns, gold chains and velvet suits with plenty of cleavage and chest hair. Costume designer Michael Wilkinson deserves the Oscar nomination.

10. It’s nominated for 9 Oscars

The film has earned impressive 9 Oscar Nominations: Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Cooper), Best Supporting Actress (Lawrence), Best Director (Russell), Best Actor (Bale), Best Actress (Adams), Best Original Screenplay, Best Costume Design and Best Film Editing.

Stay tuned to see how many they walk away with!
