It was 1999 and there was no person that didn’t share their thought (very loudly, by the way) how the film is a “commentary on the conformity of bourgeois suburbia and stuff.”
It’s an ok movie, if you don’t mind the little slightly pedophiliac moment, and sure, it was deep at some points, but come one! It did not under any circumstance deserve an Oscar.
Another what-the-duck moment is that Being John Malkovich wasn’t even nominated! Those voters have a truly bizarre sense of humor.
