Filmmaker, or should we say blockbuster-maker, Steven Spielberg has started work on his new endeavor “ The Papers” (previously known as The Post), and already this historical biography drama is looking like it’s going to be a huge hit.
Spielberg is slowly but surely gathering an amazing ensemble of actors.
We already know that A-list Hollywood stars, Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep, are onboard for his upcoming project that will go deep into the story about the Pentagon Papers, but now some new and exciting names are popping up.
The Plot & The Lengthy Cast Of “The Papers”
New names read: Alison Brie, Carrie Coon, David Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Pat Healy, Tracy Letts, Bob Odenkirk, Sarah Paulson, Jesse Plemons, Matthew Rhys, Michael Stuhlbarg, Bradley Whitford and Zach Woods.
All these talented actors are up for this promising movie that was written by Liz Hannah and Josh Singer.
As Empire reports, the plot will focus on “the role the Washington Post played in exposing the Papers, unreported facts about a secret aim to escalate the Vietnam War in 1971. Fighting the government (including the Nixon administration) for the right to report on the contents of the studies in the papers, the Post won a legal challenge in the Supreme Court.”
Tom Hanks will be portraying the paper’s editor, Ben Bradlee, while Meryl Streep will be playing the role of publisher Kay Graham.
Spielberg is aiming at 22 December for the US release date. Wider release is set for 12 January.
