As the fans already expected, Melissa McCarthy is in early talks to star in Paul Feig’s, all female “Ghostbusters” reboot.
McCarthy and Feig go way back as the duo collaborated on movies like “Bridesmaids”, “The Heat,” as well as the upcoming action-packed comedy “Spy”. The actress has been linked to the Ghostbusters project ever since its beginning and Feig officially confirmed he would be co-writing and directing the movie.
Besides appearing on TV sitcom called “Mike & Molly”, McCarthy is also preparing to shoot “Michelle Darnell,” an upcoming comedy the actress co-wrote and will also co-produce with her husband, Ben Falcone.
But we hope Sony will manage to figure out a plan via which “Michelle Darnell” will be done by March for Universal, so the female “Ghostbusters” can start shooting in June.
Who else? How? When?
As for the movie itself, there aren’t many details just yet, however we do know that Feig’s take on the beloved story will depict female stars as completely new characters and the script shouldn’t have much in common with the original.
Feig is also trying to get Emma Stone (awesome, fingers crossed), Jillian Bell and SNL star Cecily Strong, while there are some new rumors emerging on Jennifer Lawrence and Rebel Wilson, but more on those next week.
