“Despicable Me” and its sequel were a big hit with youngsters and adults alike. However, let’s leave Gru to his mischievous plans, as now it’s time for “Minions” to shine.

This comedy animation spinoff is already looking at a bright future. Even though “Minions” aren’t hitting the US theaters for over a week, they still managed to amass a hefty sum of money overseas.

As The Hollywood Reporter confirms, “Minions” earned over $18 million in the UK already. Not only is this a great start, but it also passed the highly anticipated “Jurassic World” by a mile.

Furthermore, “Minions” are now also the movie that grossed the most in its opening weekend out of all animated features to ever screen in England. Before them, it was the 2010 “Toy Story 3,” which had set the bar at $18 million.

This doesn’t really strike anyone as a surprise, since both “Despicable Me” and “Despicable Me 2” were very successful, earning $543 million and $974 million, respectively. That being said, it’s only natural to expect the “Minions” to add enough earnings to the franchise that will put it well beyond the $2 billion mark.

As for the Stated, you can go check out what these small, yellow devils are up to once “Minions” are released on July 10th.
