Muggles, alert! Today, Universal Studios Florida announced the opening date of the much-anticipated The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley: July 8.

The new 20-acre themed land is part of the expansion of the original Wizarding World – Hogsmeade, which opened next door at Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park exactly four years ago. The two sections will be joined by the Hogwarts Express train, which appears in the best-selling Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling.

The ride will shuttle guests from King’s Cross station in Universal Studios to Hogsmeade Station in Islands of Adventure, passing replicated scenes of London and the British countryside. The ride itself has a four-minute specially created Harry Potter movie to entertain passengers.

The announcement comes five days after a hidden flash animation was spotted on the Universal Orlando website implying an opening date of June 30.

In May, the theme park announced that the centerpiece of the new Harry Potter-themed area at Universal Orlando will take visitors into Gringotts Bank to help retrieve a magical object and re-create a scene from the wildly popular book and movie series.

The new area’s centerpiece ride, “Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts,” will take visitors into Gringotts bank to help retrieve a magical object and re-create a scene from the popular book and movie series. The dark twisting ride brings guests face to face with Potter villains and at one point gives the sensation of plunging over a cliff.

Diagon Alley also has themed restaurants and shops selling new treats such as butterbeer-flavored ice cream and “interactive wands.”

Single-park admission to Universal Studios Florida is $96 for adults, $90 for children. Park-to-park admission is $136 for adults and $130 for children. Height requirement for Gringotts: 42 inches.
