Rihanna is known to have been making cameos every now and then in famous Hollywood blockbusters, but it appears she is about to tackle her most serious movie role yet.

So far, the famous singer has appeared in movies like “Battleship”, “Home”, “Annie” and “This is The End”, but now Rihanna is joining the cast of Luc Besson’s upcoming sci-fi action “Valérian and the City of a Thousand Planets” alongside Cara Delevingne and Clive Owen.

Valérian is a graphic novel series originally created by Pierre Christian (writer) and Jean-Claude Mezieres (sketch artist) back in 1967.

The story follows the adventures of the titular time-travelling agent called Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and his female sidekick, Laureline (Cara Delevingne).

Clive Owen will be playing Commander Arün Filitt, while we are still being kept in the dark when it comes to the details about Rihanna’s role, though the part won’t be small. We do know that much.

The Empire magazine says this is “the biggest project Besson has tackled since “The Fifth Element”, with visions of a futuristic world that blends that film with Star Wars and Blade Runner, populated with all manner of weird creatures and just five human characters”.

Besson will start the production as soon as January, while the movie is scheduled for a July 2017 release.
