However, what many fans don’t know, is that this image could have been slightly different since Tarantino wanted Julius to have a huge Afro on his head.

Mix-Up

Samuel L. Jackson recently appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, and revealed the funny story behind the whole thing.

“Well, Quentin’s a huge fan of blaxploitation films, so in his mind, Jules had this big Afro,” Jackson explained. “And, unfortunately for him, he sent this young, white P.A. over to South Central to buy an Afro wig, and she bought a Jheri curl wig, thinking it’s an Afro wig.”

Apparently, not only can’t white people jump, they cannot tell the difference between an Afro and a Jheri curl hair-do.

Luckily, Samuel didn’t strike down upon her with great vengeance and furious anger. He even felt the Jheri curl look was actually the better option for the Julius character, and since was also a big fan of this hair style due to the legendary rap group N.W.A., he decided to go with the Jheri curl wig.

Can’t stop imaging him with a huge afro now, though.
