If everything goes as planned, it looks like the first spin-off to come will be a truly delightful one.
Apart from working on a Men In Black crossover with their immensely popular movie, Sony Entertainment is also planning on making a female version of 21 Jump Street!
21 Jump Street’s directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will be overseeing the female spin-off, as well as the Men In Black crossover. Both Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, who wheeled in the mass audiences for the original, will appear in the spin-off.
The movie will be produced by Neal Moritz, who also worked on the beloved original, while the script will be written by Lucia Aniello and Paul Downs (who work on the hit comedy series Broad City). Apart from this, not much is known yet about the female-led spin-off.
If anything, this is probably a safe choice for Sony, since their Spider-Man projects didn’t play out as well as they hoped they would.
Regarding the Men In Black / 21 Jump Street crossover, there practically isn’t any information. Protagonists Jenko and Schmidt will probably be taking on alien threats, but probably without Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. We can at least always hope for a small cameo from the MIB alums.
