tom-hardy

Ever since the promotion of Spectre when Daniel Craig said he would rather “slash his wrists” than make another Bond movie, Bond fans started speculating on who might replace the British actor.

Damian Lewis, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Jamie Bell and Tom Hughes are already all in the equation, but now another huge new name is popping up – Tom Hardy.

Hardy has recently talked to Daily Beast and in a rather silent way confirmed interest in playing James Bond.

Ducking The Question

Namely, the actor was keen to express enthusiasm when the interviewer suggested that Inception director Christopher Nolan might take over the franchise, but later refused to talk about his own involvement thus confirming he was indeed in the loop.

“Oh, wow, Chris would be amazing!” said Hardy. “Wow, that would be cool. That would be so cool.”

He was then asked of his taking over the mantle from current 007 Daniel Craig, but he decided to plead the 5th and make a reference to a conspiracy of silence among contenders:

“There’s a saying amongst us in the fraternity of acting, that if you talk about it you’re automatically out of the race. So I can’t possibly comment on that one!”

This indeed sounds like Hardy is among the top 007 contenders.

Nolan & Hardy Combo?

The actor then went on to explain why Nolan would be a perfect and most logical solution for the future of the bond franchise, as Sam Mendes and Barbara Broccoli already brought the 007 movies on a much higher level.

“But Chris Nolan, what a fantastic director for a Bond movie,” Hardy continued. “Because Daniel [Craig] is so good, and what [Sam] Mendes and Barbara [Broccoli] have done has been so impressive, that it would be a very hard re-imagination to follow.”

“I wonder what the next instalment of that franchise would become, and I think when you mention someone like Christopher Nolan, that’s a very powerful figure to bring into that world who could bring something new and create something profound – again.”

Nolan and Hardy working together on a Bond movie? Now that sounds like a prospect!
