The world finally found out when the zombie apocalypse will actually hit the theatres – again! After it was announced that the screenplay for World War Z’s sequel was finished in January (by the ultra talented Steven Knight), more news made the headlines regarding this long-awaited feature film.

World War Z 2 will be released out on June 9th, 2017, which means that director Juan Antonio Bayonahas a bit over a whole year to finish his project and smack a bowtie on top of it.

That also means we have a whole year to guess whether the sequel will be a complete disaster like it was (wrongly) predicted for the first movie.

World War Z grossed a whopping half a billion dollars at the box office, which definitely makes it a success.

Antonio Bayona previously worked on The Impossible, while the talented Knight made a name for himself on projects like Locke, Hummingbird, and many others. During one interview, Knight (who signed onto the project same time last year), said that the sequel will be “a clean slate.” He hadn’t shared any hints regarding the plot, and there was no luck with leaks either. The whole thing is still kept a secret.

War World Z starred Hollywood A-lister Brad Pitt, who will reportedly be back to produce the movie. However, reports claim that he will not be appearing in front of the camera as well. Whether that rumor is true or not, remains to be seen.
